Cha - ching.......!

Recycling in California has been an adventure to say the least!  They accept so much more than they did in my little West Texas Town and ..AND they pick it up from my doorstep AND i don't have to separate it!!! Woohoo! All pluses in my book! I don't have to have a container for this and a container for that! Nope . Just throw it all together and set it out with the trash on Thursday morning.

There are a few things we decided personally to separate because we can get moo-la $$$ for it.  One is aluminum cans.......listen to this.... $1.75 a pound!! Now thats incredible. We've watched the aluminum can trade limp along in Texas....lucky to hit 50 cents a pound for quite a while now...years....people no longer ride up and down the shoulder of the highway in four wheeler s looking for cans etc...just not profitable....

And Two plastic drinking bottles........not as profitable as the cans but still not bad.......so about once a month we take what we've collected to the recycling center and collect our winnings and this month it bought us breakfast at Denny's! Just a little over $20 . About $15 in cans and $6 in bottles. Cha - ching!

All this is so great because i would recycle this stuff anyway.  To know i add so much less to the landfill just gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. :)  I hope you'll take the time to look into it in your area.....you'd be surprised what they accept.  Really very little needs to go to the dump and if you have a compost pile (which i do not do) even less need go.......Will you save the earth single handedly??.......heh..probably not...wish it was that easy but at least you may feel like your doing SOMETHING.....

Art coming soon.....just waiting for the recipients to receive their MailArt!!!Hugs! deb

Good for you! we can single stream bucket everything too except paper, that is separate but we put out recycling every week. Trash every 8 weeks, so I figure I am doing my part. xox

We are big on recycling too. Our local Staples store now has bins to recycle used ball point pens and other things that normally go into the trash. We have compost bins and its amazing how much kitchen waste goes into them and they make great mulch for my garden. Can't save the whole world by ourselves, but together we are powerful!

We were supposed to start separating our recyclables; but then we saw the garbage men pick up the bins and dump it all in the same truck!

Mexico has a long way to go to reduce waste and pollution. Unfortunately there are more pressing issues to attend.
