Job Update............

I probably should have saved this picture of Jinx for Halloween....lol.....His eyes are just SPOOKY! We pulled our bikes in the apartment while we were gone to Albuquerque several
weeks ago and Jinx just loves them. He likes to sit on the seat and look at the door like he's saying come on mom lets go for a ride..... :) Or he scratches at the tire nubs with his clawless claws and those tires must smell wonderful , he will sniff and rub on them for an hour........

************* Job info! Well it is definitely heating up! Hubby has become much more popular in the job market in the last few days. Now Livermore ,California is flirting with him. Hubby has two bosses at his current job.....his immediate supervisor and the one right above that .Well Livermore spent an hour on the phone talking to them yesterday and after getting off the phone with the bosses turned around and immediately called my hubby for a little impromptu interview. Livermore seems very interested. Hubby let them know that we are taking the first job that comes thru and he said that his HR would be in contact in a day or two.......so...........who knows ....here i was trying to come to terms with Kentucky and now Kentucky has grown quiet....hubs had two interviews in KY.......one in Louisville for an electrical position and one in Ft Knox for IT. The process just takes so long.......... and lets not forget Kent , Washington where hubby would be a grave digger at the national cemetary there........and Livermore who in the heck ever heard of Livermore??.......
************
*********Maybe giving hubby free rein with the job posting wasn't such a good idea.....LOL! Livermore is definitely further south than i wanted to be in CA....I wanted Sacramento and north.........i relented to San Francisco early on as alot of jobs were there but Livermore is even south of SF. ...........sigh..........as much as i wanted to move west i find myself leaning towards KY and the four seasons they have there, cheaper cost of living. Well the top is still spinning .........who knows were it will stop..........Oh and lets not forget Redding ,CA its an IT position that hubby had an interview for and they have grown quiet.....every time hubby calls they say they have made a selection and will announce maybe in a week and next week and next week............I mean really................
***********
************I've been working on some MailArt this week and its turning into more of a collage project............its been fun.........I love the way they just seem to make themselves..........I try real hard not to try too hard with them , just play and have fun.........Have you played today??? Hugs! deb

Isn't that better............???

Wow! Look how big blogger blew up the header! Amazing! I always set it to 'Shrink to fit'. Last time it was small now with this scan it blew it up........go figure.......I like it better this size though, its like POW! Unfortunately for me AND you as you still get to hear about this one picture.......I can now see that the black in the black and white 'snakes' is not as dark black as the beak and black 'eyes' in the feathers that i had to go over to get rid of the streaks........sigh.....but its fixable, and i should be thankful for that.......one of these days i'll have all my ducks in a row before i scan.............Maybe you can't tell the difference in the black but i can and it will bug me to no end.......... :)
**********
*********When i'm fixated on a subject , like peacocks, I like to learn a little bit about them.....And you all know my penchant for sharing 'Useless Knowledge'......lol......well thats what
hubby calls it......its not like i can put this knowledge to work and bring in a paycheck..........his knowledge on the other hand ie....computers.....jack of all trade stuff (plumbing , electric, whatever......) he gets paid for........I can't help what interests me.......I think my interests make me a well rounded person albeit a broke one.....lol..........okay back to .................
**********
**********Peacocks are relatively easy to raise and take care of..........Peahens as the females are called are excellent mothers.......they lay 2 - 3 eggs at a time that hatch in 28 days. Give them plenty of sunshine and open space and they will thrive. Peacocks are in the pheasant family and are about the size of a swan with an average lifespan of 20 years but in captivity 40 years is not unheard of. They can fly but only short distances and get THIS a group of them is called not a flock but a PARTY ..........a party of peacocks........is that interesting or what???
***********
*********** A peacock often has a harem of peahens. The peacock not only uses his tail in a mating dance but also does a rain dance just as the clouds gather for a storm.....amazing or what? There are legends and stories of a stolen golden peacock throne that is believed to be
at the bottom of the Indian Ocean...............Greek mythology tells how the peacock got his 'eyes' all over his tail..............A census of peacocks taken in 1991 revealed that the peacock numbers from a 1947 census were down by 50%.........these are just some highlights........If my link works , you can go here to find out more if you like.
***********
************If you made it thru my little bit of Useless Knowledge here is a job update! Hubby's current boss got a phone call Friday of someone checking hubs references!!!! Woohoo!!!! That marks the first time references have been checked!!! It would be even more exciting if hubby's boss could remember who he talked to........he has no idea..........He thinks it was Kentucky.......he thinks it was for the VA , he thinks it was for an electrical position..........trouble is hubby has an electrical position AND a computer position he applied for in Kentucky and he's had an interview for both........so.......?? Thing is his boss said he THINKS it was for the electrical position but all they asked about was hubby's computer experience....... Electrical position in Louisville and computer position in Ft. Knox............computer is really the one we want because its what hubby loves to do AND it pays significantly more............ I'll bet hubby's boss' ears were ringing all weekend as i enjoyed cussing him out behind his back immensely......lol Hugs! deb

Well.............

Well i thought i was finished..........until i scanned it in and now i don't like how the black scanned........uuuughhh........black shows everything......ever notice that? I had the same trouble with the 'Cat on a Wall' picture over there on the side bar......Okay i'm gonna try to color in that
black a little better on the feathers and the beak, after that i'll rescan it and it is what it is. The black does not look all streaky like that in person. I must remember that black does not scan well and keep it to a minimum in pictures.
*****
*****Well hubby had an interview yesterday and has another one today. The one yesterday was for a computer position in Ft Knox , KY and the one today is an Equipment Operator in Kent, Washington........ where oh where will the spinning top stop??? :) Still waiting to hear back from the interview for the Electrician's Journeyman in Louisville, KY and the IT specialist in Redding , CA.......Today marks his 5th interview.....not too shabby. But my goodness i wish someone would draw his name out of the hat already. I wanna know where i'm gonna be.
*******
*******I've been walking and behaving myself on eating......having hubby watching what he eats helps tremendously! I wish i could tell you after all this time that the pants were hanging off me but honestly their not.......however they do seem to fit a little more comfortably and i guess the fact that i have not outgrown them is a good sign too. LOL! So just keep on keepin' on. Artwork maybe a little scarce on here for a little while as now the peacock pic is done i'll be working on some MailArt and i don't want to show it before the recipient receives it. I'm having trouble nailing down an image in my head for some MailArt. I have alot of ideas floating around in my head and keep discarding them for another.....i probably just need to start and let it unfold.......I look at my craft table and it sure doesn't take long to accumulate things. Maybe it won't be long and i'm gonna have to pack all this stuff away to move...........fingers crossed! deb

Home...............

Its funny how we can be unhappy in our apartment but go away for a few days and it still feels wonderful to be back home! Why is that? :) It was a heck of a trip with nothing fun planned , just medical visits. We drove down Tues.....you know we hardly ever turn the radio on when we travel....do you? We talk and talk and talk and point things out to each other.......the topics of conversation are wide and varied..........this trip ( you may think us a little odd here if you don't already lol) we spent many happy miles debating the differences between crows and ravens! We kept our eyes open for them going down the road and hubby googled it while i drove and this is what we found out........( yes i like to share my useless knowledge Ha! aren't you lucky!) Well.....ravens are much larger than crows.......they also have a ruff around their necks and alltogether look a little scruffier than crows.......If you catch them in flight....a crows tail will look like it was cut straight across while a raven's tail will look like a wedge........a crows beak , the top and bottom are even and come to a nice little point, the raven's , the top is longer than the bottom and the top has a nice little bump in it.......a crow makes a 'caw...caw...' sound and rocks back and forth if its on the ground, a raven......i don't know how to describe it but its totally different.........when a crow lands it does a lot of fidgeting and fussing a raven just 'bam' lands and sits still.........crows are more social and you will more often find them in town, ravens just the opposite they both however are very intelligent..........Now if you can........picture us going down the road saying " theres a crow!", then" NO thats a raven, crow....raven...crow"....yeah it was a blast! Then we talk about the upcoming election and the boobs we have to choose from.........count the cars on trains.........tell childhood stories and hubby's army stories that constantly get recycled and i never get tired of hearing them......... Wednesday we went for the rounds of post -op necessities and he had his elbow (which has been driving him up the wall) checked out........they gave him a couple shots of cortisone in there and he says it feels great. They also gave him an arm band thats suppose to be for tennis elbows. Well he's suppose to wear it while driving since we think that is whats aggravating it. Then Thursday was the operation..........i've never seen him more nervous...........it was rather disconcerting for me as hes such a strong person. I think he was worried more than anything that it will not fix the problem or even worse that his knee will be worse off than before the surgery..... But i kissed him and squeezed his hand and they wheeled him away.......He had a wonderful older doctor , a Dr. Rock, who after the surgery SAT DOWN in the waiting room with me and showed me pictures of the knee and explained things to me.............turns out the knee was not half bad.......they cleaned up a little arthritis and tightened the meniscus in the back of the knee and trimmed it.........he's recovering very well, moving it and walking on it which i know is great relief to hubby...........But the doctor wasn't finished with us yet...............he went on to explain that the burning sensation in the knees that hubby complains of is most likely a symptom of diabetes...................................this post is getting rather long so i'll tell you more the next time we visit............hubs is trying to come to terms with this revelation...........Thanks so much to those of you who dropped me a line asking how the surgery went , i'm sorry i didn't post sooner, things have been a little crazy with the unloading the truck and lugging it all upstairs and putting stuff away........and then the house didn't have any groceries ...so off i go..........finally all caught up...ooops well.....i still need to do laundry......will you come lug it to the laundry mat for me???LOL! How i miss my washer and dryer.........

Kaizen

................I'd never heard of the word but in my Internet wanderings at one of my favorite haunts CreateMixedMedia i read an article kaizen by Quinn McDonald. Apparently kai-means change and zen - means to become good. And in all honesty the only thing my strange little brain could think of while reading the article was making it apply to weightloss and lifestyle changes.....go figure.....but its a good article and all about taking baby steps.........I hope the links work and you'll take a look at it. LOOK at these marvelous butterflies i found in a magazine! They were quite tricky to cut out but so totally worth it!
And here is another piece of MailArt i've completed. I don't which one was more fun the front above or the back below. I even remembered to block out the addresses before showing you. I used a marker for all the antennas and a white marker for the dots....i made sure each butterfly was outlined in black.****** You are not gonna believe what hubby and i saw on our walk yesterday evening! The trees around here are budding out! No joke! Not just one or two but ALL of them. This is Feb 3rd right??? Wow!! It was 77 today and even the nights have been warm in the 50's. When there is only a 20 degree temperature change between day and night that triggers things to grow........(just some useless knowledge from my garden center years. lol) But i have to say February is waaaay too early!
The back of the envelope was fun too. A fellow MailArt person sent me the circles and i had no idea what to do with them........The cute little indie archway came from a flooring magazine ad and ofcourse left over butterflies.......i painted the bodies on the large butterflies.....it was alot of fun. Maybe the circles could have been placed better in a more abstract fashion theres probably some abstract rules i'm breaking here but i like it. ***** Hubs and i will be gone for about a week.......he is finally getting arthroscopic surgery on his knee! We are nervous and excited at the same time.......Its another trip to Albuquerque but if it will help him be mobile i'am so for it. I have to hit up the doctor and find out exactly what his rehab should consist of. Rehab is not one of hubby's strong points..........and he will fight me every step of the way. If i'm gonna nag i wanna make sure i know what i'm nagging about! So if things are a little quiet don't worry i'll be back soon......taking the peacock picture with me if i don't finish it this weekend.....although i'am making good progress..........we don't leave until Tues.....I'll be bringing the laptop so maybe you'll get a post from Albuquerque! We plan on seeing the movie 'the Gray' this weekend and i want to see 'The Lady in Black' I like scary movies as i'm sure you all know by now and i'd like to support Daniel Radcliffe in his endeavor beyond Harry Potter....... :)Hugs! deb
