Did you ever.........

...............wake up to the most perfect morning??..........cool breeze coming in the bedroom window rustling the blinds..........the early morning sun winking between the leaves of the maple tree outside the window......light and shadow dancing on the wall...ceiling.....the warm body of the man you've slept next to for 20 some odd years keeping you warm against the chill. Sleeping late on a Saturday morning.......i throw my arm over him and snuggle closer....coffee can wait....i entwine my cold feet with his and .......feel something furry.........JINX......i smile he must be cold too. He's the only cat i know that likes to sleep UNDER the covers......wish i could teach him to push the button on the coffee pot.........

No sleeping in tomorrow.........tomorrow we travel to Pleasanton about 10-15 miles away to an Antique Streetfaire boasting over 400 vendors! It starts at 8am. Oh we won't be buying anything unless its something small i can squirrel away while we are in the apartment. But it will be fun to walk around holding hands with my honey.

The weather here has been incredible.......days in the 70's with a few 80's thrown in . 40's and 50's at night.......there have been a few days we've put the aircond on but as this apartment only has a window unit it really doesn't do much to cool it down. I'am assured that summer is coming and it will be HOT. But you know after 20 years in Texas where summer arrives in March and stays until Halloween the fact that its almost June and summer hasn't really kicked in is well.........nothing short of heaven......I hope you have a wonderful Memorial weekend in your little slice of heaven...............Hugs! deb

What do you think about......

...............when you walk or run or bike or whatever it is you do to M.O.V.E.........Sometimes i lose myself in the music.......sometimes it becomes background music as i think about personal matters that need mulling over......sometimes the music stays at home and i listen to the birds and the wind and the hustle and bustle of life around me.........sometimes i find myself naming the different plants and trees filing away the ones i don't know for research later and then theres yesterday.................yesterday i decided to fiddle with a Haiku while walking. Now that in itself can be dangerous but i decided to take my chances...... Problem is i couldn't remember for the life of me whether the break down of the syllables was 7-5-7 or 5-7-5.......highschool English has long since vacated this brain.......well i decided on 7-5-7 .......it took nearly the entire walk to come up with something i liked. (3 miles) Came home Googled Haiku only to learn i had it wrong its suppose to be 5-7-5......sigh.......I thought i'd show you my effort anyway....... Above and below is an envelope i made for a MailArt buddy.
Some days are born bathed in light
Others a misty morn
All are well met; bles-sed be

My MailArt Buddies ..........

.............keep me hopping! I have two of the BEST MailArt buddies! It is so wonderful to get their art in the mail. Do you like getting snail mail??MailArt??Are you looking for a penpal or MailArt buddy?? Please just drop me an email and we will exchange addresses.......I LOVE opening my mailbox and getting a letter or art....something other than junk mail or bills.....Writing letters is a dying art and i want to do my part to preserve it. :) The lovely, quirky MailArt above comes form Corrine over there at sparkledaysstudio.com . I just love the colors......i wonder wherever did she find that little man?? Corrine is great about recycling and inspired me to start doing the same with my MailArt. This lovely little MailArt envelope came from my MailArt/PenPal buddy Eileen over there at The Artful Crafter. We decided to make this first year of MailArt one of experimenting with new mediums and techniques and just have fun. I just love her collaged envelope and she finds the neatest little trinkets and such to stick in there....... MailArt has been so much fun.......The above piece was just a hot mess for a long time. I used the 'credit card technique' again that i was introduced to by June over there at ACreativeDreamer. I used much less paint than i used the first time and i think achieved the effect i wanted. Theres a story behind this piece but you'll just have to wait.......... :) I could not resist taking a picture of these sunflowers out front of Trader Joe's the other day. Sunflowers just...make ....me ...smile! Can't help it ....i just bust out in a big goofy grin....... I hope someone can help me with this...........sorry for the 'not so great' photo. Hubby took this with the camera on his phone.......but can you tell the stem comes out right thru the center of the flower....really odd...to me anyway......I would love to know what this is if anyone knows.... This sign made me smile.........you have to give people an 'A' for effort in trying to protect the environment......Nearly every house i see here has a solar panel on the roof. The VA hospital in Palo Alto has solar panels on their agenda . They are putting up covered parking and are putting solar panels on top........Totally awesome!!! Hope your having a great day!!!! Whats making you grin lately???Hugs! deb

*******PS I finally added some more images to my ZazzleStore if you want to pop over and check it out....I added the butterfly image, luna moth and the leaves and vines that are in this header.......They say it could take a day or two to show up in the store but i think the butterfly image is already in there.....I also added the link for the store over there on the sidebar. Not much action going on in the store. But if you like what you see there a button there for you to 'Like' me! or if you scroll down to the bottom you can leave a comment. :)

Come Ride with Me.........

...............aaaaaahhhhhhh the lovely apartment on the second floor. You carried your heavy mountain bike down those stairs knowing full well your gonna have to carry it back up after you've biked about 8 miles and your legs feel like jello.....but .....you do it anyway...why? Because the Bike Trail calls to you...... The breeze cool on your bare arms........the sun warm on your face and beauty everywhere.....birds, squirrels keep you entertained and try to pull your concentration away from the trail .............. ..........with it rough edges , little dips and sharp turns if your not careful your gonna end up... in the drink.........the little creek is your constant companion on this ride....in the quiet spots away from traffic and people you can hear its burbling......children with their vigilant mothers play in the shallows......pants rolled up to their knees......smiles and excited chatter....squeals... Trees seem so much taller since you've spent all those years in Texas..........you are easily amazed by their height........a stillness seems to envelop you as ride thru them......you can hear your own breath after climbing that last hill........ ............the sign makes you smile.......maybe a sad little smile as you are quite aware of the pounds you have packed back on........it crosses your mind what you THINK other people are saying.....'Look out! Wide load! Fat woman on bicycle coming thru.....' You have to quiet your mind........don't think such things......you cannot wait until you've 'lost a few pounds' to get out there and exercise.......it doesn't work that way.....you won't lose 'a few pounds' until you DO get out there and exercise.....all those inner demons that whisper such negative thoughts be damned! ..........can you smell the roses?.......you take deep calming breaths......letting the negativity go......you are here.......you are moving.....you are alive.......you smile and take another deep rose scented breath........ ...........4 miles has taken you to the edge of town and you look longingly toward the emerald hills but know you have 4 miles more to get back home AND a set of stairs to climb........so you make a date with those hills....next time.......next time i will get a little closer.......

Day Trip to San Francisco!

I don't think i had been here more than a week before a trip to San Francisco was planned and executed. :) I had the BEST tour guide, someone who truly loves the city and had a difficult time deciding what we could fit into one day. We parked the car in Dublin and rode the BART train into SF. This turned out to be a truly intelligent thing to do.......don't look so surprised...epiphanies do happen! Nobody had to worry about driving, directions, traffic, parking.....BUT you had to willing to walk everywhere you wanted to go or hop a bus or trolley....we.....WALKED everywhere! I tried to get these pictures in some sort of order as i loaded them but i didn't do a very good job. The above picture is as we entered Pier 39. The paintings on the buildings were marvelous. So many people! But then it is a Saturday after all. Started out a little cool but warmed up quick. What you don't know is we had a loooong walk from the Farmers Market to get here and we were STARVING! People were riding bicycles pulling benchcarts behind them....i know theres a name for them but i cannot think of it.......but they wanted $15 to take us to Pier 39....we decided to walk. So many places to eat there and music everywhere, birds, and you could eat inside or out on the deck......little shops selling everything you could imagine........big barrels of every color you could imagine bath salts that you could scoop yourself and fill containers.....the smelll......i cannot even describe it. A stop at Pier39 would not be complete without a visit to the sea lions. Apparently they have been missing for quite some time and have just recently returned to the area. I KNOW its because they knew i was coming :)! Stood there for quite some time just watching them and listening....... This picture of the mushrooms is just one of the many sights and sounds of the Farmer's Market. Lots of free samples to taste of everything you can imagine. I just loved the look of these mushrooms. A lady was trying to take what looked like a professional photograph of them while i was there.......at least she looked professional with a heck of a camera. This gentleman was playing the most beautiful, haunting music i have ever heard. I loved it so much i tipped him and he posed for me for this picture. I wish you could hear it. Anybody know what that instrument is called?? And then we have this very enthusiastic gentleman. :) My tour guide tells me he is there all the time and she tipped him while we were there. What i saw that Saturday perfectly fit my impression of San Francisco that i had in my head. Isn't that wonderful when that happens? Along with the Farmer's Market they have an Art Fair that occurs at the same time. You KNOW i was in HEAVEN! It made my soul sing! All the vendors were so friendly and willing to talk about their art. I could tell they really loved what they were doing. I had the wonderful idea of photographing them with their art and then would show-case them on my blog. Maybe send some sales their way.......... However that was not to be...........Nobody i asked had a website!!! Not even an Etsy account. Can you believe that?? Well i was so surprised anyway.......I felt for sure that most of the artists would have a Internet presence. ........so i tried.........i was thinking wow i could interview artists there and showcase them on my blog and help them out.........them not being on the Internet did not even occur to me.......i was so flabbergasted that i didn't even think that there could be other ways to contact them if you liked what you saw ie....phone number , address etc.......So anyway i have these two photos to show you they were both amazing booths. The gentleman in the pic above was so , so nice and his work was extraordinary. An these spirals......sigh......i just love them but at $25 a pop i'm thinking my hubby has a new 'honey do'........I did buy a few things though , i just need to take some photos of them. We also hiked up the hills to Coit Tower which sits on Telegraph Hill. Gorgeous views and totally worth the hike. You can also take a trolley up there if you don't want to hike. I wish we had done our homework a little more.......we did not go inside the tower but instead just enjoyed the views from the outside.......I was writing a friend a letter and did not know how to spell Coit so i googled it and found out we could have went inside where they have 20 murals that were painted in the 1930's that you can view for free. My guide thought the ride up to the top of the tower cost $30 so we didn't go but in reality it costs $3.75.......sigh......so i would like to go back there. Then we walked thru China Town on our meandering way back to the BART train.........China Town....a wonderful experience i'm glad i had but really not for me.........too crowded...to busy....you step in a store and the salesladies practically attack you and stay with you the whole time you are there. I know that is their custom but after a while it was so , so annoying.....walking around little grocery stores was so interesting. I saw lots of things i never even heard of much less ate. We had a great time! I look forward to going back. The train ride cost us $11 round trip. So SO worth it. This is the first of many adventures in our future! I hope you'll come along for every one!!! Hugs! deb
