Looks Like...........

.............I've fallen back into posting once a week again ........ that happens when there's not a lot going on...... It doesn't mean i've been idle.. :) I've been working on another piece of ceramic hubby and i poured a few years ago. A creepy tree with great texture. I'm attempting to dry brush it but i'm no professional at that ....... Its coming along nicely but dry brushing takes such a long time...... we'll see if my patience holds......Can you see the ghost? I noticed he's kinda faded out in the picture.....I'm going to put pearlescent paint on him before i'm done.......

...........and then we have more words........ I'm not sure if i told you but my kitchen colors are going to be turquoise, ( or as close to that shade of blue as i can manage) copper and black or dark brown... So you remember the previous words that were crackled turquoise and dark brown?  Well these will be shiny copper base coat with an antique copper top coat crackled......

I have the base coat and now i must wait......... wouldn't you know it... after months and months of no rain now we have three days of it! Which brings high humidity and that is not good crackle weather, so i've decided to hold off...... maybe this weekend i'll crackle.....

There are more projects i'm working on and some i have completed... but you  know its that time of year and some are for presents, so i have to be a little sneaky here...... :) As i can though i will show you.

Meanwhile its so nice to have cloudy , dreary skies overhead.... that may sound odd but perpetual blue skies can be boring too.  No big storms here or torrential downpours ......just misty rain or a slow , steady rain....... but we'll take it.... it washes everything off, making everything fresh and new after months and months of dry and dusty..... The rain comes in waves off the ocean..... i'm going to try to sneak in a walk between waves..... Hugs! deb

A Finished Craft............

...........i had to announce that..... cause you know.... how often do i actually finish something??!!..lol... But perhaps you remember the glass gem/ mason jar / solar light project?? The original idea came from Kathe with an E (you can click to see her project) . But you know how things morph and become your own...... Well this became a much longer project than intended cause hubby didn't think they lit up 'properly' and you KNOW how he likes to 'fix' things.  :)  All men do i think.... Thats why we love them!

Well he took the solar light thats inside apart...(oh God) and got out his soldering gun (double OMG) and he wanted to mount the solar panel thats on top of the solar light outside the jar because it was casting too big a shadow inside the jar and really only lit up half the jar. I mean i could see the problem .... i was just willing to live with it... lol...

Well after many whispered curses and a few evenings spent pondering his dilemma he agreed to just let me put it together the way Ms Kathe with an E suggested........... we (he) mounted them on a couple Eucalyptus tree limbs we had..... drilled a hole up inside the limb and stuck a piece of rebar half inside the limb and half in the ground......  and wouldn't you know it ....... its been cloudy ever since........ so i haven't gotten a real good showing from them.  When i do i'll try to get a pic of them glowing...... So nice when i can say....... Project DONE!  Hugs! deb

Veterans Day!!!!

                Have You Thanked

                        YOUR

                      VETERAN

                       Today???

I have.......and now after sleeping in and a nice bacony (is that  a word?) breakfast he is out in his 'shop'(read garage) fiddling around.....its a good thing....something he doesn't do enough of anymore... I know its difficult for him to content himself with the garage when the shop he had in TX was as big as the house......but he's coming around .... slowly but surely ..... I've come up with several 'honey dos' for him to do using his tools....a reason to get out there... He turns the music on out there and piddles around...... gets his mind off work ...... which is so hard for him to do..

Me? I'm using the dishwasher today.......!!!  You may not think that's a momentous occasion but this is the first time i've ever owned one. Since we moved in over a year ago i let it go thru a cycle once a month just to keep it running ..... things that sit idle don't do well ....... I usually run it empty....well this time i put dishes in it!  Trust me its not that i 'am in love with hand washing dishes...... i think i just feel the dishwasher won't get them clean enough..... go figure....

Well with the dishwasher doing my dish job today i'm going to go play in the craft room! Ta Ta!!! Hugs! deb

Playing with the Woodburner.........

Several years ago we were taking a monumental hike thru Guadalupe National Park and this became one of my favorite pictures of that time. We got sunburn the first day and snowed on the second day.  We were taking a breather from going forever uphill with loaded packs. I loved how relaxed hubby looks. Always a smile on his face. The frame is store bought but i just made the Just Breathe sign. Its a piece of Eucalyptus tree bark. Its so thin an dry i was worried it might just go 'Poof' up into smoke ...but it didn't.... And i think it fits perfectly.....

............and while i'm at it.....another favorite picture of hubby.(i might have shared this one before) We did a little fishing before we left Texas. Look how successful we were!  LOL!
Disclaimer: No fish were harmed in the making of this picture... :) We practice catch and release........much to my hubby's consternation ......but i believe very few waterways if any are suitable these days to consume the fish from them....just sayin' ...yeah i know hubby rolls his eyes at me too.......LOL! Hugs! deb

Lets Face It..........

.............follow thru is not one of my strong points....... lol...... but i DID see this little project thru.........What started as a pencil drawing (above) became............

.........a painting on a 5x7 canvas board......where i tried my best to blend all the colors with light in the right places as well as dark.....with a little blending medium (newly acquired ) i think i was successful ........Its not as BRIGHT as the pencil drawing....thats something i'll have to work on........could be its my color choices i used Laguna Blue as the base , which is what you see in the back ground  then Navy Blue for the dark and Sunny Yellow for the light....maybe my yellow was too pale......??

...............Then i sketched in all my lines with my Pitt Pen. Which by the way went over the paint like a dream..... I love how it turned out . It really went a long way in boosting my self confidence that 'YES! I CAN do this'. It also taught me patience.......to slow down and blend and don't use too much paint.......this was really a good exercise and i WILL pursue my idea of painting a large canvas.....say 16x20 in this style for my beachy bedroom.........Well now that you know what i did with my weekend what did you do with yours??? Hugs! deb

**** You CAN click on the pics and enlarge them. Take a look at that last one ..its the finished piece.....  :)
