Grow Your Blog

Hi! This is Deb!! I'm so excited to have you visit. I hope you'll stay awhile and browse. I'am a 46 year old woman. Married for 24 years and counting...... The title of my blog 'Learning to Just Breathe' and the 'About Me' paragraph at the top of my side bar pretty much says it all. At 46 i'm still learning that its okay to be me. I think it will be a lifelong quest to accept myself....

My reason for blogging has 'morphed' over the years. Back in 2008 i started with a weightloss blog.  You can find the remnants of 'Finding the Runner In Me' here . All the posts are gone but the pictures remain. I keep them on there to remind me that YES i can lose weight when i put my heart and soul in it.

Over a year and a half i lost 80+ pounds

..........and it only took a year for me to lose focus and put it all back on...............  I keep saying i'm gonna give it another go. But i haven't found my mojo yet..........

THIS blog is more art related.  When i turned 40 something shifted. And so many things i had set aside when marriage and children came along i suddenly wanted to dust off and explore again. i have always loved to draw and use colored pencils .  So i began exploring that again. And thats what you'll find here.

I keep wanting to take my pencil ideas and turn them into paint on canvas. And you'll find that here too. I love turning trash to treasure... upcycling... Over the past year I've discovered MailArt Postcards.  Above is a Magnolia Tree Seed Pod that i've turned into a little tree and a Postcard in the background....I've entered a few Swaps. Its been alot of fun.

I love to crackle........ if it sits still very long i'll crackle it!

Hubby and i have recently moved from TX to CA and i like to take you along when we explore our new state.

Jinx, my black cat of 7 years like to make the appearance now and then.  He always helps me pick the winner for an occasional GiveAway.......

I try to keep it lighthearted and fun......... a little artsy.... a little crafty and a little adventuresome ..........  And i'd love to have you come along for the ride.
So very nice to meet you!
                                                        Hugs! deb

I love the title of your blog! I have not done any crackle painting. I am just at the point where the thought of painting no longer scares me. I do more of it in mixed media projects. I am now following you along via G+.

I can relate so well to what you said about learning to breathe. I myself took a long time to embrace " who I am " , even when there are times I am still learning just who that is !

Hi Deb I found you via GYB and I am staying. It is quite a brain transplant to learn to accept ourselves as we are and not to buy into other's ideas of who we should be (and our own, no doubt). Please visit me if you have the time - there are soooo many blogs to see. Hettienne from Her Grace http://hergracedevata.blogspot.com and www.path-of-divine-love.com

What a great blog you have. The art is stunning. I look forward to visiting again. I'll be a follower as soon as I figure out the Google Friend Connect. I mainly use Bloglovin simply because I haven't taken time to look at the other avenues.

Hi Deb... thanks for stopping by my blog too. I love your art.... fishes too. I had to look up where Lathrop is, since you mentioned Central California. I'm over here in the Santa Cruz mountains. We go right by Lathrop each time we go to Angels Camp, a favorite of ours. I'm looking forward to following you. Loved the Stinson Beach pictures too!

1. I have to admit that I have never crackled. I will have to add that to my list of things to do now that I am retired and have both the time and the space.

2. Where in California do you live? We live in Ventura

3. Being YOU is hard. There are so many forces telling us we need to be something different.

4. I will be back to visit.

5. Thanks for visiting me.

Hi Deb, I'm popping by from the party to say hello. I like your tone, it's refreshingly honest, (so too that you admit to putting =your weight back on). Good luck with that, it's tough keeping it off, I know! You say you've been by all the blogs which is impressive though I'm not so sure you saw me. Anyway, I'm here now and look forward to seeing more.

Thanks for sharing your blog. I'm still working through all the blogs from GYB. A little over 1/3 of the way through. Please feel free to visit my embroidery blog. (I'm in the 1st set on the list.)
