Flights of Fancy............

Hello Tea People!!   Elizabeth and Bleubeard from the Altered Book Lover .... host a lovely tea gathering every Tuesday called T stands for Tuesday.... There are few rules and even those are bendable .... I hope you'll consider joining us... You don't even have to drink TEA!

Now i hope you remember that fairy doodle in my sketchbook last week.... when i told you it was an idea i wanted to pursue... The possibilities for that one sketch alone just seemed endless... So even with my limited available supplies while we are under construction i decided to attempt three postcards playing with the different possibilities for her wings... I really like this top one the best... Aaahh if only my stamps and inks etc... weren't buried... scrapbook paper...

This one (above) is hubby's least favorite.... He says it looks like she flew into a 'butter storm' and its dripping off her wings... I thought it was a rather ingenious idea... I watered down the yellow paint and applied it rather heavily and then blew on it... ..lol

I like this one.... but i still like the idea of using scrapbook paper and stamps and ink to decorate her wings so i know i'll be playing with this idea again in the future...  I'm afraid you will just have to imagine the glitter coming out of her hands as it doesn't show up on the scan.....  I have three wonderful ladies that i exchange MailArt with and three lovely fairies... so they will be flying off soon to new homes... If anyone else would like to exchange MailArt postcards please do let me know..... nothing formal .... no deadlines... no stress.... just fun... I'll send you one.. you send me one....or visa versa... easy peasy...

This morning at 8:19 am 48 years ago i came into this world... I laid crosswise in my mother's belly and she spent 30+ long hours in delivery until they called a specialist in to turn me around... 9 months earlier she had walked into her doctor's office thinking something was really REALLY wrong with her .... and after the exam the doctor walked back in the office and tossed a baby bottle her way and said ' Are you ready to do it again?'  My mom was 38 years old... already had two boys crowding in on their teen years.... needless to say i was 'unexpected'...lol

I apologize to the Tea Gang for a late entry this week.... and i will be a little late getting around to everyone..... i'm off for more Birthday Shenanigans.... :) Big Hugs! deb

Happy Birthday, dear Deb. What a great story. I had a girl staying with me who had gotten pregnant and her son was born in my family room. The baby was breech and the EMTs couldn't move her because the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck. She called me since I was at work. I lived 32 miles from where I worked, and, after calling the EMTs in my small town in MO, I rushed home (I worked in KS). I drove well over 100 miles an hour to get there in slightly over 20 minutes. I kept hoping to see a police car, but no such luck when you really want/need them. The OB/Gyn talked the EMTs through getting the cord free, but didn't bother turning the baby. I've always said that was the most beautiful baby I've ever seen. Not because I was so attached to him, but because his head came out of the birth canal last, so he didn't look all "cone headed."

Not as exciting as your story, but thought I would share, anyway. It's the only birthday gift I can give you today (grin).

I can see these Butterfly girls becoming a series. They already seem to occupy a good portion of your art time.

LOVE that mug. Reminds me of the northwest.

Thanks for sharing your lovely art, your birthday, and your mug with us for T this Tuesday. And again, happy birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hope you are having a great day.

I love your hubby's comments - he is so honest....which is good. I've taught Joe to be the same. Don't just tell me you like it when you don't. I ask because new eyes see things I don't and I want an honest opinion and I'm not hinting for a compliment.

Love your fairies and I'm sure you must be so frustrated with your crafting supplies packed away. Hope the renovations are over soon for you.

Your fairies look powerful to me, because their costumes remind me of super hero costumes. Up, up, and away! :)
