Jinx Approved!

................Jinx wholeheartedly approves of the new windowsills! This windowsill wasn't even fastened down yet and he hopped his not so little butt up there.... He loves to watch the birds and squirrels...... its like Cat Tv.....lol

My days have been filled with painting trim.........and once i have so much done hubby comes along and cuts them and installs them. Then i turn into the Caulking Queen and caulk any seams or gaps so we look .. you know.. professional......lol THEN i have to paint over the caulk... yeah... its been a time consuming process....but satisfying...

Staining the windowsills scared me to death......... not sure why... I was so worried about 'messing them up'.... well with a little bit of hand holding from my crafting guru friend Eileen at the Artful Crafter......I jumped in with both feet.......and guess what?

I didn't mess it up! The color is Red Mahogany. The directions on the can suggested using Oil Modified Water Based Polyurethane as a top coat. I used a satin finish......

Very , very happy with how these turned out.......I love how you can still see the wood grain thru the stain......I'll get you a picture of a finished window when i have a completed one...

.........and you KNOW there's been 'arting' going on! Its just something i need in my life.  I'm beginning to think i'am so over a sketch book that has lines in it...... Its been fun and freeing working on such cheap paper but i'm really beginning to dislike the lines when i have a finished piece i really like.... I don't know what do you think do you like the lines in there?

This was so much fun to draw and color...... I hope you'll click on it to enlarge it and see all the detail....Feel free to print off the line drawing and color it yourself. Happy happy T day to my Tea People popping in from Ms. Elizabeths T Party.....

And just for my Tea People i leave you with this photo...... I've had it for years........stuck in my folder of inspirational photos for drawings........ I just love it...... but for the life of me .. its been so long i don't know who to attribute it to... so if you know let me know and i will put it on there.... But i thought it wonderfully appropriate with the new 'Alice' movie coming out... are you going?  We will but not this crazy Holiday weekend....... Have a safe and happy one for those that are celebrating! Hugs! deb

We have so much wood in this house that has been stained and varnished it's unbelievable. When we were young, we got the idea to put barnsiding on some of the walls and the living room ceiling and stain and varnish it. That was our Ponderosa Period. Many times I have thought I'd like to sand it down and paint a colorful color, but then I think about how maintenance free it all is and nope...don't do it. Two wall are painted white wallboard to lighten it up and added 2 sets of patio doors a few years ago for light. I love it now!!

I absolutely LOVE your bird tree. Thanks for the art.
xx, Carol

I love your writng style, Deb. Your posts are always a fun read. Love the photo of Jinx watching Cat TV. Your sills came out really nice. The thing about staining is that the wood does a lot of the work for you.

The birdhouse tree kingdom is just wonderful!!! That's the king and queen on top, right? What a wonderful imagination you have.

As for the lined paper, it's not only ecnomical but a handy cructh for beginning sketchers. My sketchbook is gridded - lol - that's for real beginners. You're beyond the beginner stage, so it seems like a good time to graduate to a proper sketchbook ;-)

Hugs,Eileen

Oh my you have been busy, but all that maticulous detail will pay off for sure. I mean just look at Jinx likes your work.
Muffy loves to sit in the sunlight (she'll get any warmth from anywhere she can) and watch the birds. We have five white doves that visit us each day and they send her into a little tizzy fit.
That's a fabulous picture and made me think of the 'Alice' movie too.
I'm loving your tree... I enlarged it to see all of the detail. Although I'm not a quilter I'm thinking that it would make a gorgeous quilt pattern.
Have a wonderful creative week xoxo

Thinks are moving along quite nicely if you're painting trim. I bet Jinx loves the windowsill.Cats (and dogs) just love to watch the world go by, don't they. I hope there is something interesting for him to see. Happy T Day- Hugs-Erika

Your drawings are so darn cute that I don't even notice the lines. I think along the lines of mixed media where pretty much anything goes.

Love the stained trim! You too obviously work together very well. Doing that scale of a project for some marriages would end it!

Your stained trim has turned out great. From what I could tell, it looks like your table in the background. It is wonderful to see the finishing touches coming to fruition on this massive project. For some reason, when you first showed the house, I had NO idea you were going to practically gut it. You certainly have a lot to be proud of.

I'm not a big Alice fan, so I can't really help you with the picture. But it certainly is perfect for T this week. Glad to read you stayed dry while your hubby was out in the rain. Fishermen have a tendency to not worry about weather.

Thanks for sharing your home improvement update, as well as your lovely image with us for T this soon-to-be Tuesday.

Glad you are getting along well and that your cat is happy, that's a BIG thing! Love your little sketch and the cup lady image. Perhaps you could smudge a bit of gesso over the lines before you start sketching if you aren't happy with them? Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie

Cat TV is like a toddler watching the washing machine!
Your drawing is fantastic. It is so nice, you don't notice the lines.
Gosh, you have been busy. Your window sills have turned out beautifully. The trim is for windows? I have no idea what caulking is, but it seems to keep you busy. Well done you for even trying. I leave the DIY to my husband. Kudos, as they say.
As for the Alice picture, there is a name on the photo but it is too small to read.
Happy T-Day,
Lisca

There is something about stacked cups that I find so pleasing...great photo to end with Deb.
AND what a classic pic of Jinxx to start with.
You will all enjoy those beautiful wide window sills I'm sure.
Fun to read that you're getting to the "trim" stage of your house renovations. You and hubby are a fantastic team.
Your Home Sweet Home tree is wonderful!
Happy T Day oxo

Catching up with you and your remodel is fun. Just when I think maybe you are nearly finished you start in a new area, LOL! I like the art on lined paper. What I don't like is most lined paper notebooks don't lay flat. Thanks for the "alice" photo.

Hi again! That bird on my balcony is a jay, they are different to the american ones, and the poor things were all soaked yesterday. Glad you like Petunias, I love them! Hugs, Valerie

Jinx is so cute. We call it "bunny tv" here as we always seem to have bunnies in the yard. Marvin chatters away at them. Nice job on the finishing. Looks very professional!
Happy T day!

Well done Deb! You are becoming the master ( or is mistress?) of home renovations.....LOL! Everything looks amazing, and looks like Jinx looks more than satisfied too.

Love the art, I think I would have grown tired of all the line before now, especially with such great art.

Happy T-day

Wood definitely has its own beautiful texture, and stain lets that shine through--yay for you doing a great job! love your tree drawing! I understand about the lines...they don't bother me looking at your art work, but I prefer to use unlined paper to draw on myself. There are a lot of inexpensive unlined journals available these days. but you have been so busy! I figure you are doing good to get any art work done at all...so keep it up on whatever paper comes to hand! happy T day!

Love Jinx's large screen TV!! Your windowsills look great! As for lines on your pages - I think they look great but then I can't draw as well as you so I didn't notice the lines at first just the fab tree! Happy T Day, Chrisx

Oh my goodness you've been busy! I'm 'not allowed' to paint in our house because my husband is so good at it. He's just painted all our kitchen cupboards and it looks beautiful.
