Last Chance at Halloween....

One day Halloween seemed a month away and i was toying with ideas for  a Halloween PostCard.... plenty of time... then all of a sudden it was 3 days away and my PostCards would be Belated Halloween wishes.... ah well... the Muse works in mysterious ways... I do apologize for the blurry header photo... my camera does not handle low light well....grrr...Found the spider while cleaning up debris outside... !!To put him in perspective ... He could fit in the palm of your hand legs and all comfortably..not that i picked him up!! No no!

Hubby wisely suggested perhaps i shouldn't show you the condition of my desk.... But I thought if you saw the conditions now you could truly celebrate with me when i cut the ribbon on the new craft room... :)

As always this is cereal box chipboard we are working with.. the skull is from a paper napkin found at Wally World.. I glued it to a piece of white chipboard...so the green wouldn't show thru the napkin... (A mistake you'll see soon)

The raven die cuts came from Wally World too ... but see how you can see the edge of the skull thru the raven..... grrrr... perhaps i should have glued the skull to white cardstock or something... that would have been thinner and the edge of the skull not so obvious... The drips on the background are Tattered Angel glimmer mist sprays...The above pic is the skull without the eyeball.....

And this one i cut out a circle of paper and colored an eyeball... In the finished piece i used a pitt pen to put veins in the eyes...I like the eye ball... I think it gives it a little somethin' somethin'....If you look close i also gave him a shiny gold tooth....

And here we go... Three finished Halloween PostCards... I added a spider sticker then carefully painted over it with black because i didn't care for the original color... Used a Pitt pen and drew a line to the spider .....

Here i was trying to show you the shine on the eyeball and spider AND teeth as i added Glossy Accents to them... makes them shiny and raised up a bit...You may be able to tell if you enlarge the photo by clicking on it.... Hope that goes thru the mail well... I also used Archival Ink to go around the edge of the skull to age him a bit... Used the Pitt Pen again to quote a bit of Edgar Allan Poe's... The Raven... around the edges... My Pitt Pen did NOT like the glimmer mist.... Infact i think i ruined a pen...  :(

I had a family member mention i should have done the background in Orange... It would have been more Halloweeny... but to me the green is ... well.... creepier..... and thats what i was going for... I hope my swap partners don't mind a belated Halloween card....Just when they thought Halloween was over... bbwwwaahhhaaahhaaa... lol

And for my lovely T people over there at Ms Elizabeth's and Bleubeards .... I understand Bleubeard just celebrated a birthday!!!! Happy Belated Birthday my dear boy!!  See i'm always behind i tell you... belated this belated that.... sigh... To comment on a comment from last week.... Elizabeth... My family were hunters  as was my husband and his family and i asked a few friends that hunt around here... and they all say that you count all the points on a deer ... not just one side... One asked the question... well if the deer had 4 on one side and 3 on the other what would it be?? To us that's a 7 point... Perhaps the states differ.... I can only speak for TX, AR, PA,NJ.........I'm so glad everyone enjoyed the deer photos.. Next week House Update... such as it is... Promise! Hugs! deb

The Boys are Back in Town!!!!

Not one buck.................

Not two bucks...............

But THREE bucks in our yard a few evenings ago! The bucks have been pretty scarce around here all summer...  All the construction going on at the neighbors could have something to do with it... With all the does and fawns all summer we've been like a nursery around here... Often times the does will leave the fawns in our yard and wonder off to eat on their own... Like we're built in babysitters or something...lol

But the boys are back and they were in a rough and tumble mood... I apologize for the poor lighting but they come by close to dusk and the blurriness is because i was EXCITED !! lol

These were all three 8 pointers....One was definitely bigger and heavier than the other two.. He's the one standing off to the side in the three buck photo...

So thankful that i live in a place where i can see this right outside my window...  But you know people keep moving in... buying up the land... even just since we've been here.... Even if they don't plan to build they feel like they have to 'improve' the land by clearing out some trees.... etc... Why do people always feel like they have to control nature... they have to bring order to it... I love it in all its beautiful chaos......

And this ofcourse is for all my T people over there at Elizabeth's and Bleubeard's ...  I know you must be tired of seeing my wolf coffee mug... but all others are packed away... I'll try to make it interesting by staging it with some interesting flea market finds...lol    Found a set of 4 of these legs a couple weekends ago... $8..... Not sure just what i'll do with them but it will be fun to figure it out... suggestions welcome.. :)I think they are quite old but you know how easy it is for them to make something new look old these days so i don't know.... the glass marble is flat on the bottom....

This was going to be a house update post but i HAD to show you my boys!!! I hope you have a beautiful rest of the week!!! Hugs! deb

The Microwave Generation......

Now the picture is for my Tea People over there at Elizabeth's and Bleubeards for T Stands for Tuesday.... and i'll tell you all about it in a moment....The picture has nothing to do with our topic of conversation this lovely morning/afternoon/evening...... :)

My microwave went out on us this past week....... dead.... acted like it was working but not heating up of anything....( It was the microwave left by the previous owners) so i had the chance to get to thinking about generations... Now  there's obviously the Baby Boomers.... Huge generation of people born in the years just after WWII  .... then there's Generations XY and Z.... the Millennials and i don't know who all else... do you?   Technically being born in the late 60's i think i'am Gerneration X but after the microwave went out i decided i was definitely of the Microwave Generation if there was such a thing.... I'am completely lost without my microwave....

I don't realize that until i no longer HAVE a microwave....Kind a like how you don't realize how dependant you are on water until a pipe bursts or something...  But seriously... i defrost my meat in the microwave .... i heat up leftovers in there.... I heat up water for the occassional cup of tea in there... i stick the icecream in there for a few seconds so i can scoop it out easier... I make peanut brittle in there....I make my morning oatmeal in there.... I'am LOST without one... and am afraid i would have to relearn everything without one.... I'm curious..... whats your relationship with YOUR microwave.... ? and what generation do you consider yourself?

Now for the picture...... I went to ANOTHER estate sale the other day.... i know ... i know.... I almost made it out of there without spending anything but then i stumbled across this little metal bookmark i think it is.... isn't it adorable ? And very appropriate for tea i think.... :)  It looks handmade but i'm not sure ... I was so tickled to find it for 25 cents!!!   Happy happy Tday everyone!! Hugs! deb

Good Morning All............

.........And how are you this bEaUtiful Fall morning???! I'm on my FIRST cup of coffee so honestly i only have one eye open so any typos are directly attributed to the lack of java in my bloodstream at at the moment... :) Do you remember the picture above i showed you awhile back??

Well this is what became of it!  The wings are gorgeous butterfly stickers that i cut in half.....Again found at the Dollar Store... lol

The rest is colored with PrismaColor pencils and smoothed with Gamsol and i used a Pitt Pen for the all the black lines... This kept me entertained for many hours while hubby was recovering...I also think this would make a great painting............

He's doing pretty darn good by the way.... still some stiffness... but he's still doing his exercises with it and its still on the weak side but he's lifting some weight with it and i think it will recover well in the end... Next week he has his final appt with the surgeon and should be released...

Yesterday we finished stripping the wire from the house... now that may not mean much to you right now but i'am ecstatic.... I took some photos a little while ago and if i can find them i will show you next week... Our Great Recycling Project!! lol   Hopefully it will bring me a little $$ tomorrow when we turn it in...  But for now i want to wish all my T People and friends that come to visit a wonderful day and a wonderful rest of the week... I have a Fall craft show to visit this week... in between the rain drops apparently ..... but thats okay nothing can dampen my excitement for a craft show!!  I'll be around to visit!!! Hugs! deb

A Moment in Time.....

This happens for just a few minutes each and every day..........  Its a roll of clear plastic wrap we acquired many years ago that will no doubt last our lifetime and beyond.....  lol  ...  Just the other day this caught my eye and i must say it is much more impressive in person... I couldn't help but mouth the word WOW and run to get my camera... The sun was streaming in my kitchen window at just the right angle... Wow!  What little thing have you noticed today??? Hugs! deb

Here i Sit......

......and its a lovely Fall evening... almost midnight...hubby calls me a HootOwl because i like to stay up late... The windows are open .... the night air not quite cool enough yet to make me close them... hubs would beg to differ but then i just throw an extra blanket on the bed....Just a few moments ago the coyotes ran through our hollow... the make the most haunting sounds.... a mixture of yipping and yapping and howling... Until coming to Arkansas i had never heard them in person before.... the TV does them no justice... They make me smile..... they sound so exuberant  and happy and full of life..........

The two pictures above are recent PostCards i've made... sometimes i wonder if my swapping partners get tired of all the bright colors..... I can't seem to get away from them... The top card was a test card .... I was testing True Red across the top using Cad Yellow to lighten it as i went across... And the bottom darker color is Crimson Red and Cad Yellow... I wanted to see what the difference was.......  and i decided it was pretty enough to make a PostCard out of it.......
If you look close at the bottom PostCard you can see i lightened the bottom right corner and had it fade to dark... always trying to work on my blending...  I like the contrast of the blue and orange and the turquoise flowers against the darker blue... Both PostCards are made with Dollar Store stickers....

I know house pictures have been pretty slim pickens around here lately... Not that we aren't doing stuff ... we're just doing boring stuff... tedious stuff...  Take this closet... you've seen a similar photo before... but now i've caulked and painted all the baseboards and trim and the window sill is installed....and caulked and painted...  We have the brackets and boards for the shelves but i have to stain and paint everything... Hubby is still working on the Whale tail hooks... he was not pleased with his first attempt so he is trying again....

This door..... aaaahhhh this door.... gave hubby heck for a good part of last week.... and the nightmare is still not over as he has to drill the holes for the door knobs etc.... Good news.... it cost $10 at Habitat for Humanity... Bad news... its the second door.... the first door got totally ruined and we paid  $30 at Lowe's for that one... um....yeah.....  think happy thoughts.... :)
This lovely Fall PostCard came from our Tea Buddy Krisha! Isn't it gorgeous??!!Yeah see everyone is in Fall mode and i'm still doing my bright  , hit you in the eye PostCards... ah well... maybe the Fall colors will hit my Muse by Christmas...lol... And here's my water for all my T people over there at Ms Elizabeth's and Bleubeard's... T Stands for Tuesday.... The T party is every Tuesday.... Just bring your favorite drink and come visit everyone...   We'd love to have you... I hope everyone's had a fab week.  I'll be along to visit shortly... Hugs! deb
