Its Times Like This.........

............that make me realize just how affectionate hubby and i are toward each other...Hubs has come down with a head cold and we are doing our best not to give it to me even though some how i always seem to end up with what he's got... So many times through out the day we've had to catch ourselves from kissing each other... Its just a natural inclination... touching , kissing, hugging...holding hands ... I just don't realize it until we try to stop doing it..lol

This is a picture of last months full moon.... It was so gorgeous we made an effort to get a photo and this was the best one.. We have a rather old Canon Rebel EOS and have never had much luck with moon shots but this time we got out the tripod and had a go.. We tried all the different settings on the camera too...now if only i could remember which setting this was..lol

New Years Eve! Do you stay up til midnight? Some years we do ... some we don't ...  Not sure yet what we will do tonight.. In years past we used to buy champagne and toast in the New Year... Hubby would have his mixed with orange juice as he didn't really care for it..lol We didn't know for years that that was a drink called a Mimosa...Now we just stay up and witness the turning of new year.. Neither one of us drinks much any more..

Bitter cold here.... hard to believe 3 degrees F is predicted for the low tonite.. brrrr.... craziness... Looks like by Thurs/Fri we'll be coming out of this deep freeze... at least back up to more 'normal' readings.. Well... I hope you all bring in the new year well... and may it treat you kindly.... Happy New Year to all my friends and Tparty people... See you on the other side..... Big Hugs! deb

A Breath of Spring...........

......or at least thats what this drawing reminded me of......

And since several of us seem to be in a deep freeze .. i thought you might like to see how it colored up...

I absolutely adore those sunflowers at all their different angles...

I can see a looong horizontal painting of just a row of sunflowers done like that... maybe on a 9 x 13 canvas or something.. then placed over a doorway..

Some of you know i follow Ginger Cook and her free painting lessons on YouTube and the other day i learned a new word... 'foreshortening' not sure i spelled it right but spell check liked it..lol Come to find out i had been doing it just didn't know that that was what it was called.... See that tall sunflower above ... see how the petals on the back side are shorter?  That's it.. that's foreshortening... and you have to take that into account when you are working at different angles rather than just head on.. Was that a new word for you or did you already know that? :)  If this is your T day visit .. Happy T day.. Hope my drawing warmed you up a degree or two.. Hugs! deb

I take it back !! I Take it back...

........I TAKE IT BACK!!!   Remember a few weeks ago i was commiserating with you our lack of Winter.......? Well at 50 years old one would think i would know better.... Winter arrived in December and has never left... Oh sure we've had a little snow to make it pretty but that was gone in a day.. now..now its just bitter cold... I have no use for bitter cold ... I don't need bitter cold to have snow.. i need 'just cold enough' for snow.. I mean 14 degrees F is just ridiculous .. and i think next week we are looking at a night of 8 degrees F... seriously....... I've left the water dripping to try to avoid frozen pipes..  I'm counting on you guys next year to remind me in November when i start lamenting the lack of cold weather to be careful what i wish for.........

Christmas ... Christmas is over for another year...... Was Santa good to you?? The day after I had a wonderful time spending a Hobby Lobby giftcard..lol Now.. i'm not a huge fan of giftcards... I tend to think they are the easy way out of gift giving.. BUT far be it for me to turn down a Hobby Lobby gift card.. If they're giving out Hobby Lobby gift cards they can just take the easy way out all day long!lol  So that was fun.. I would show you the chocolate i received but um... well... its gone... just gone.. poof! Thats my story and i'm sticking to it..  I have always adored salt lamps... and i received one for Christmas... see below...

I think it makes a nice little nightlight in the kitchen.. Now i don't know if i believe all the air purifying qualities its supposed to possess but i do like the look of it.. Its hard to tell but its on a nice little wooden base... :)

Since we were in town to spend my HL money the day after Christmas we found reason to run into Walmart before heading back out to the house... Boy was it crowded... perhaps everyone else spending their Christmas money...lol  But the thing i noticed the most... The two cops stationed there... one at each entrance... and i just found it so utterly sad that i live in a place that cops have to guard the entrance of a Walmart..  Don't get me wrong if their needed i'm glad their there... Hubby went up and shook the cops hand and told him how we appreciate them and hope he had a nice Christmas.. but still.. I guess i didn't realize i lived in a part of the country that that was necessary... or is that everywhere now?
One last thing before you go.... My friend in TX found out that i like Chai tea and a box arrived in the mail ... :)  Somebody in Tx loves me ... :) Thank you so much Charlo!!  P.S. The little birdies are on my desk because they've been displaced by Christmas decor.. lol  All will get back to normal soon..   If your looking for a wonderful group of ladies from around the world to visit with over T every Tuesday please pop over to Elizabeth and Bleubeard's . We'd love to have you... there are precious few rules the most important being  that something within your post is drink related..

Its a little early to have a T post up but i had an early morning and some time on my hands so there ya go..  I'll link up and be around to visit when the time comes.. Hugs! deb

It Snowed!!!!

... It did! .. It snowed!!! I had a whole nother post planned but when i woke up this morning to a beautiful white world.......

I grabbed my camera and set out on a picture taking adventure (right after i had two cups of coffee)

My Greenman was still smiling under his mantle of snow...

The trees stood out starkly against the snow... Birds who had mostly disappeared all Fall were suddenly back in droves...

Its afternoon as i write this and the snow is mostly gone... just a memory.. Who knows maybe it will be the only snow i see this season.. I'm so glad i got out there in it.. There's always a quiet that comes with the snow.. ever notice that?? A hush.. even if its just a little snow.. like for a moment the world stops.......

For my T party people... I didn't have a drink photo ready so i had an impromptu photo session with one of my favorite mugs.. I know you've seen it before but it sure looked pretty in the light next to the snowflake with snow in the background.. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas...... We are having a nice quiet Christmas so i know i'll be around to visit everyone who does post.. Big Christmassy Hugs! deb

The Spirit of Christmas

is alive and well in our house this year....

Its so nice to see all my Christmassy things...Its like reacquainting myself with old friends...I LOVE cardinals...Did you know???

Their bright pop of color in what can be a dreary season just cheers me up and never fails to make me smile.... I have three on my tree.. And several on my feeders outside....

My little Christmas Angel was made by a very special little girl in elementary school....a looong time ago...

The balls on the tree are a fairly new addition to the tree but they were just the perfect color for me..

This little guy (above) is actually a cabinet knob that i turned into an ornament.. Gotta keep your eyes open for things like that..lol

Another ball.. I love how they have different textures... they are not all green ... thats just the ones i happened to capture...lol  See the candle in the window?? They turn on at dusk... I've always liked a candle in the window...

We all know .. i have a thing for owls.... lol

Snowflakes in the window... Psst... by the way this is the first and last time the Christmas tree will be in front of the big bay window upstairs.... theres no way i'm lugging that tree and all the decorations upstairs every year... nope... not doing it.. ... From now on it will be downstairs by the fireplace and where we watch TV in the evenings...  Once we finish the walls down there.. which will be a major push in the new year....

My snowflake collection... I always have my eye out for a new snowflake ...

My little village.... They are Carol Towne and i just love them... These are from the 1980's and the style has changed so i haven't added to them ... I always hope to run into some older ones at a yardsale or fleamrkt but so far no luck.. I think my brother in laws painting makes a nice backdrop...

Besides Christmas theres been sketching going on... I set a challenge for myself.. I wanted to draw sunflowers at different angles .... I'm not very good at that.. i tend to draw things straight on....

....aaanndd i wanted to practice drawing a horse... I have wanted to be able to draw a horse since i was kid and the ability has always eluded me.. so .. i wanted to try AGAIN... I looked at an instructional on Pinterest and i think it helped me a little bit..

Then i enjoyed a relaxing morning outlining the sketch over coffee... I like it but after i outlined it i missed the 'sketchiness' of it.. Now i'm coloring it in so stay tuned... :)

Well my tea people I'm ready for Christmas are you?? Psst... i even noticed that 'someone' put some presents under the tree for me!!! Hmmm.. what could it be???   If we don't meet again before Christmas i hope you have a beautiful holiday... I'll be around to visit!! Hugs! deb

Christmas Shenanigans .....

...........first i'd like to thank everyone who came by to spend a few minutes with me while i waxed eloquent on my sleepless nights......and left such wonderful comments.... I'm happy to say that the last two nights have seen a return to normal and its at least been 7/7:30 am before i wake... whew...... Sure glad that doesn't happen often... I thought you might like to see the Mr. and Mrs. Santa I mentioned in that post... yellow with age but still lends a warmth and cheer to the holiday...

Hubby may not be too happy that i snapped this photo nor that i posted it here....shhhhh.... but it was a photo op that i could not pass up....If you did not see the previous post .... Hubby is wrapped up in Christmas afghans his mother ,who has been gone a few years now, made for us over the years.... And i thought it looked like he was wrapped up in his mothers love..........

......speaking of shenanigans ... I made some Tigerbutter last night... Have you ever heard of it?? Maybe you call it something else?  Well you take 8 squares of almond bark and melt it in the microwave for 2 minutes.... Add 1 cup of peanut butter and stir until all combined....

Now i have a nice flexible rubbermaid lid that i pour it into... But you just have to remember that its easier to remove the Tigerbutter when solid if you have a flexible container and do NOT use a glass container as it may shatter with the heat... Melt half a bag..or 6 oz of milk chocolate chips... Original recipe calls for semisweet... but semisweet has a 'wang' to it that i just cannot get past.. so i use milk chocolate................

Drop by spoonfuls on top of the almond bark/peanutbutter mixture and swirl around with a fork.... put in frig to cool

Then score and break into pieces.... Its something quick and easy to make and great for gift giving... ships well...  On a curious side note... I always like this recipe because its a play on my maiden name... which is Tigar but pronounced just like the animal... yeah... try growing up with that last name....lol

And last but not least my T partiers.... my Christmas PostCard for my swap partners.... I painted the back ground... I hope i succeeded in making it look like she was skating on ice... the large snowflakes are metallic ice blue paint and i hope to goodness the white snowflakes stayed glued on....  I hope everyone is enjoying the lead up to Christmas!! I'll be around to visit!! Hugs! deb

*** If you thought i was going to Eureka Springs.... well we didn't make it as my company came down sick and that just wouldn't be fun not feeling well... so... maybe another time... :(

Third Time This Week...........

..........I have woken up early.....  like somewhere between 3:30 -5 am........ and could not go back to sleep.....  I just lay there wide awake ... knowing that sleep is not going to come again but lay there nonetheless hoping......... Besides .. its a little warmer in bed anyway.... Finally i just get up....Jinx is happy.. he gets fed early....

Father Winter has come to the Ozarks...lol   That was my wish right?  lol Watch what you wish for... just sayin' ....
Brrr... its cold... no snow... For me if its gonna be cold it might as well snow so i can have a little fun...lol  But here i sit with my coffee and some toast... I turned the Christmas tree lights on for a bit of cheer..  Our first year setting up the tree in this house... Its pretty and its fun finding new homes for all my bits and bobs..

Apparently i've been too noisy... now hubby is up... and has flung himself on the couch in the light of the tree and covered himself with the crocheted afghan from his mother that is almost as old as our going on 30yr marriage... I like to think of him wrapped in his mother's love.......

My Christmas decor has always brought me a sort of comfort... Its been amassed over three decades or more and much of it brings fond memories.. I have a Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus that have the little pegs in them and light up.. It was one of my first ceramics i painted when i was pregnant 30 years ago.... All the white parts have taken on a yellowed aged look... I could repaint it.. but I rather like that it shows it age......

I have a stack of Christmas cards that encompasses  30+ years and every few years i'll sit down and go thru them remember old friends and family... add new cards.. tie a ribbon around them and set them on the coffee table...pssst... some names i'm sad to say neither hubby or i remember who they are....

So i'm actually looking forward to a bit of a warm up in the next couple days... We are planning a trip to Eureka Springs Monday i think ... 60 F should be nice enough... Eureka Springs has alot of fun little shops... very touristy .. but i enjoy it.. Last year we found a cute little coffee shop that has a good breakfast too.. So many creative and artistic shops.. I know i'll come home with alot of ideas...lol  Well  I hope your staying warm... I'm pulling out a pair of thermals! If i don't figure out this sleep thing expect a few more posts like this...lol  Hugs! deb

Expanding my Horizons............

I knew..... I knew you guys had to be getting tired of seeing everything i make have some hint of copper... So i purposely 'expanded my horizons' a little and played with silver and gold too...

And........ if i'm completely honest.. i ended up liking the silver and gold more than the copper...lol

I just LOVE that little gold key.....

Now i love steampunk... i haven't had much chance to play with that genre myself but i like the look of it and i like the little 'bling' i put on the gear... These guys will hang on my Christmas tree but i did have a family member who said she wanted the silver one for a necklace....

This is how they started.... I bought them last year at Walmart ... a pkg of 6 for $2... spray painted them black then dry brushed them... So including the little doodad i added to each one i guess they cost me about 80 cents each to make... Pssst... Walmart is selling them again this year too in their Christmas decor...

Well my T people its been sooooooo warm here... I saw a snake today taking a walk! A snake in December!!! Crazy! Rain is blowing in this afternoon and colder temps for the next several days.... Maybe the snakes will go back to sleep!!  Take care and i hope your having a nice Holiday season! Hugs! deb

Thanksgiving Recap for T.......

Well Thanksgiving is gone for another year....... I find myself still tired from it all... Trying to make a house that is still under construction presentable and for me the stress of all the people (not a people person here) and the cooking... i find it just kind of took its toll on me this year...and i feel the need to squirrel myself away a little bit....  I've buried myself off in the craftroom the last few days and hope to feel myself soon..... I'am happy to say that before company came i did complete a few projects i wanted to get done...

Mr. Frog.... you may remember him... i've had him for awhile... TX...CA and now Arkansas...

But he's looking a little worse for wear... ....and needed a little TLC...

I painted him with the oilrubbed bronze and highlighted him with the copper... I want to put an outdoor clearcoat on him but i don't have any at the moment... You can see him finished in the header... He wasn't out there an hour before he got bird pooped on!!! sigh..

Some of you may remember i had these words hanging up in CA but some of them were Teal in color... I didn't want that color here so i redid those and crackled them copper and black like the rest... Then hubby put them up... Let me point out something that bugs me... sigh .... See the word memories?(below)  See that it has a capital 'M' ? I soooo badly want that word all the way to the left... like at the beginning of a sentence even though i know its not a sentence... it just seems its 'proper' place... Hubby wanted it where it is now, next to family..... and i cannot  always knock down his ideas.. thats not nice... but boy i had to bite my tongue on this one... it bugs me every time i look at it... sigh ...

Does it bug you???

Please excuse the glare.... the egg holders got done!!! My curio cabinet is full full full.... I cannot collect another thing and not one more egg!!! lol

I even had to resort to putting them on other shelves....

Ta Daaaaa.... Now they are at least all standing up.. :) Remember the egg holders are leftover pieces of pvc from the house remodel .. covered in scrapbooking paper and edged in gold..

I've been working on my Christmas PostCards for my swap partners here lately... trying out color schemes and mediums.. Lots of fun!   Thats an Inkadinkado stamp i found at a flea mkt a while ago.. first time using it... :)

And finally my coffee for the week.... This used to be a brochure for a truck that i decided to upcycle.... I mailed it to Eileen and i think she will show you the rest of it this week ..... if not.. here's the link.....Well thats all my friends .. I'm so glad you stopped by for a visit ....  Thank you Ms Elizabeth for hosting us again this week as in every week... You sure do put on a lovely T party! You invite the nicest people.. :) Hugs! deb
