T Stands for new kiTchen.......

GoodMorning my Tea People and GoodMorning to everyone who pops in for a visit........Before i reveal the new kitchen you can go Here and see what the kitchen looked like Before.....

We ordered these thru Lowe's and no we were not paid to say that.. But after going to both the big orange box and Lowe's we settled on Lowe's . We were very fortunate to find John in the kitchen cabinet department... It seemed to us that several employees at both big box stores seemed to lose interest in helping us when they realized we weren't purchasing 'top of the line' cabinets( maybe that was a misconception ) ... But John helped us wonderfully... He had tons of patience with two people who had never had a new kitchen installed before... He patiently helped us figure out what we could afford and designed our kitchen on the computer...All very friendly and professional and it didn't hurt that every time i saw him he reminded me of Dobby the House Elf from Harry Potter.... i have never seen a person look more like an animated character before in my life... I so wish it would have been appropriate to show you a picture of him.......And as i said the review of Lowe's is not compensated in anyway and my opinion is my own..........

Ta Daaaaaa!!!!

I still have lots to do.... Lots of unpacking... kitchen items i haven't seen in how long?  More than a year... i may have missed a few items but honestly i may cull a few things as i put them away.... If i haven't used it in forever its going away...

Now theres still some details to be done... We were short two filler plates and some scribe or trim and we get to the end of the install and realize we are a door short...we call the company (KraftMaid)and learn 'oh its on back order'.... would have been nice for someone to point that out for us beforehand... but anyway.. it all worked out and infact the door just arrived by UPS yesterday... so all good...

Lowe's did not do the install for us........ Their install was just beyond what we could afford....You know through out this whole house remodel the cost of labor really struck us the most... Thank goodness we were able to do most things ourselves or we never could have afforded it... Some companies we looked at to rewire the house wanted $20,000 plus to do it.... and the cost of supplies is only like $500... AND if you remember all the sheetrock was out of the walls ... they had easy access to everything... and they still wanted that much... Anyway we are getting away from the kitchen.. We found , at our neighbor's recommendation, a wonderful guy to install our cabinets at a reasonable price and we were so happy with his work we were able to tip him...and we hope to have him back to do more around the house... If you look at the above pic you can tell we forgot to leave a place for the trash can.... now what do i do with it???  And we will get an over the range microwave but for now this will work...

Since Lowe's didn't do the install we measured the kitchen ourselves..... um...yeah...... We were this much off.... But don't fret... I'm trying not to fret...I have a beautiful idea to take care of this but it requires the use of my craftroom.... Still working on the primer on the walls.. but hey at least we're painting... I worked on that while hubby helped the kitchen install guy... You know.. alot of times you don't need someone to install something FOR you .... you need someone who knows what they are doing to install it WITH you.... Hubs said he learned alot and he thinks maybe we could have installed it ourselves but instead of 2 days it might have taken us 6 weeks...lol :)

So this morning the install is behind us.... the unpacking and figuring out where to put everything is ahead of me .... The grass is green... the deer are fat and happy...the birds are singing in my little corner of the world... and my heart goes out to the people of London.....the atrocities happening there could very easily happen where i call home..... its becoming a very scary world indeed...

Ms. Elizabeth we are drinking with the hummingbirds this morning.  They have a new feeder.........And if you look close in some of the photos you will see cups and water bottles lying around galore...lol Big Hugs to you all . Stay safe and i'll be around to visit! Happy happy T day! deb

Pssst.... if anyone knows the name of the flower in the header.. i'd love to know... I took that photo in CA . Isn't it just gorgeous???

It looks fantastic! Know what you mean about someone showing you how to do stuff, we have a friend we hire and my husband had learned so much from him.

Looks great! Glad your neighbour liked your old cabinets...which is quite funny really. I have no doubt you will fix the boo-boo measurement but don't feel bad because when we had our new kitchen cabinets put in the professional installer miss-measured too!....but his was an easy fix.

OMGosh!! The kitchen looks awesome!! I love your choice of cabinets, too. Wow! And I'm sure you can come up with some way to cover that little bit sticking out. Sounded like you already had an idea brewing.

The deer look happy and the hummingbirds should be happy. You sound very happy! I would be too after going without a kitchen for so long. I think I told you that I lived through a remodel once. I remember having to wash dishes in big plastic tubs in the bathtub! It will feel like Christmas unpacking all your kitchen stuff and--yes--this would be the perfect time to downsize and purge. Enjoy!!

OK, you are right. These are much nicer than the original cabinets.

I found the same snooty attitude when I was getting information about a new computer at the big box BLUE store. They didn't want to talk to me, just wanted me to pull out my checkbook. Oftentimes, great service and caring attitude is as good, if not better than price.

I learned a long time ago to do my own home remodel. I've done everything over the years, from putting up new sheetrock walls to completely rewiring a garage, to building a free standing bath in the basement of my current home. Once you learn plumbing, electrical, and framing skills, they never leave you. Especially if you take good photos as you are working.

I am really, really impressed with your skills and the way you recycled so many of the things you removed. I absolutely HATE those home rebuild shows that go in and destroy all the old cabinets, walls, etc. and fill dumpsters with things that could have been salvaged. I only saw a few of the shows, but that turned me off immediately. I say kudos to you and your new found skills.

Thanks for sharing this remodel with us for T this week. And yes, I see lots of cans, bottles, and mugs around the kitchen.

That is a dream kitchen for me-so many cabinets-wow!! Happy for you to be progressing so well on your new home-and what talents you and hubby have become with renovating.
I hope you are enjoying some hummingbirds with that beautiful feeder.
Happy T day!

congrats on your new kitchen! that is one thing I still do not have after all these years-no kitchen cabinets-actually no storage spaces anywhere in the whole house-when I inherited some monies I was going to buy some cabinets finally but the way hubs set it up-was all custom nothing will work that is standard-and at my age I decided 20 grand was just way too much-lol so I envy you its all a learning curve for sure-and you guys have done a fantastic job with your home-hopefully you will be finished soon-hugs

The flower is an abutilon. We used to have some in a previous garden but they just plain orange so not as spectacular as yours. It is amazing

The kitchen looks terrific and must have been such a big job and still a big job to do putting everything back

Love the bird feeder and hope you get lots of the beautiful little birds

Happy T Day

Wow to your beautiful new kitchen, you must be thrilled its now installed and you can unpack all the kitchen stores. But that sounds like it will be another task for you sorting things out. I wonder what will come from the craft room to cover the small mistake yoy shared.
I loved the shot of the bird feeder and the deer.
Happy T day

Oh my, you have been busy and your newly modelled kitchen is fabulous! I can see why you are so pleased with it and I can't wait to see your bespoke craft piece you are going to make for the wall 😀. Wow, I was impressed with deer on the lawn and now you have hummingbirds too, that's so wonderful and I'm sure they'll appreciate the new feeder. It's so kind of you to be thinking of us over here in the UK, wishing you a Happy T Day! J 😊
p.s. I believe the flower is a Abutilon (we call them Chinese Lanterns over here) called "Fireball" - great name, isn't it 😊. Hugs, J x

What a beautiful kitchen! I love the clean lines of the cabinets, and your kitchen is so spacious! As to the trash, can you fit the bucket under the sink in one of the cabinets?

It's been too chilly and rainy here for the hummingbirds. Hopefully, I'll see a couple as the honeysuckle is about to bloom. The doe on your lawn looks so peaceful. There are deer here, but I've never seen one during the day.

Enjoy your new kitchen and Happy T Day.

Dobby the House Elf - oh my, the poor guy. I guess John makes up for it by being a super nice guy.

Wow! The cabinets look great! And you have so many - what wonderful kitchen storage. About the garbage can, will it fit into one of the bottom cabinets? I know two ways to do that: 1. leave door as is and install a sliding shelf at the bottom of the cabinet for the garbage can to sit on; and 2. costs more, but more convenient - take a door off, have it attached to a sliding shelf with some side supports, then a drawer pull (a longer pull can also serve as a towel bar) on the front. Essentially it's a very tall drawer with low sides. Let me know if you want pictures. Option 2 is what we did.

I've been curious about your header flower too so I went searching. I think it's Arbtiulon pictum, a.k.a. A. striatum (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abutilon_pictum).

Happy T-Day! Hugs, Eileen

What a lovely header. Yes, I recognised i as abutilon too. We used to have them in our garden too.
Wow! Your new kitchen has arrived! Congratulations! I bet you are so pleased! You might want new utensils. I remember I had all my stuff in boxes and when my new kitchen was ready I got rid of quite a bit and bought a few new things. It is not expensive to buy a few bits and pieces in coordinate colours so it looks pretty.
Happy T-Day,
Hugs,

I was unfamiliar with the flower so am glad to learn from the comments. I don't think I've ever seen one before.

We got our cabinets from Lowe's, too, but demolition/installation was far beyond us. You did good, kid! It looks great :)

I always enjoy seeing your deer photos. We have a hummingbird feeder, but so far we've only seen a hummingbird twice. We saw a lot more last year.

Happy T Tuesday!

Oh that kitchen looks fabulous! Ha! We too forgot about a place for a bin so we had to buy one and have it by an empty wall - sadly our kitchen isn't as large as yours - but then we don't have far to walk I suppose!! look forward to seeing more! Happy T day Chrisx

As much as I love the remodel, the one thing that really caught my eye was what was going on outside. You have deer on our property, which is really cool. Between them and the hummingbirds, I would be outside at dawn with my hot coffee waiting to see who showed up each day on the property. What a great house.
