I wish..........

........................i wish i was as calm , cool and collected as this fellow here looks........ If he looks hot.. yep your right.. its been pretty unbearable around here lately... hot , humid... Then the mother of all storms came thru last night... Rain ..glorious rain..at about midnight.. just after hubby and neighbor got home from fishing... that was lucky huh?!   They caught 3 good size bass..

So rain and little rumbles of thunder about midnight... we drifted off to sleep to the sound of rain.. is there anything sweeter? Well about 2am... ba - BAM!!! we both sat straight up in bed.. the house alarm was going off ....!! Geez what a rude awakening.. Several more BAMs later things settled down a little and we tried to go back to sleep...  But wow! I haven't seen the likes of that storm  in a good many years... The lightning was incredible...The drenching downpour continued though and that was a good thing...

I don't know how much rain we got but the birdbath is full ...... on a side note..... the deer don't like to drink the water in the birdbath after a rain.. it will sit there for days.. but let me fill it with a bucket and they will drink it down....wonder why that is?

Well........... the reason i'm not as calm as that squirrel.. (no it wasn't the storm)  is we are invited over to a neighbor's house for supper.... This is not the fishing / helping with his house neighbor although they are invited too..  This is another neighbor down the road who runs the dock that the fishing neighbor keeps his boat.. Anyway... we have never been to their house before.....I'am not a social person... hubby is my social butterfly..lol  For the life of me i cannot remember his wife's name..... They are serving spaghetti .. no one can eat spaghetti gracefully.... hubby is still trying to figure out his new teeth...... everyone invited is religious except hubby and i... that could not matter at all but then again it could... i have nothing to wear.....

But i guess as long as i can think of something intelligent to add to the conversation and hubby manages to eat with his teeth and religion and politics don't rear their ugly head... it MAY be a pleasant evening...   We were told not to bring anything.. wish i could bring something.............. okay deb breathe.............  :) Hugs!

I don't want to have anyone watch me eat spaghetti nor do I want to watch someone else do it. What was she thinking?

Hmmm...could make for an interesting evening..take it all in stride, with a dose of humor, if necessary..I hope it all goes well for you. I love amazing storms, especially when I am nice, safe and cozy inside!

Your storm sounds so spectacular, lightening always looks so amazing lighting up the night sky! Your evening sounds like fun and at least everyone will be in the same boat eating the spaghetti ... lol 😉. You'll do great just as you are, and if it helps you have lots you can talk about like the deer that come to your garden, the help you give your neighbours, your new kitchen and refurbishments and even the weather and thunderstorm 😉. Sending you positive vibes and remember to just be your-wonderful-self! Wishing you a Happy Friday and Weekend! J 😊

I'd be just as nervous, to be honest. I hope it goes well.

yes breath--lol I am not much of a social person either although I am getting better as I get older.
for sure stay away from politics and religion-lol I always bring something even if they say not to. I am good with pie baking and all men seem to Love pie so always a big hit.
let us know how it goes-hugs
we did not get much rain or a storm here-but we did get a little-not enough to really soak the plants either. that is strange they won't drink the rain water-are you on a well?
hugs Kathy

We had storms two nights in a row. Now it's back to heat and humidity. Got my lawn mowed today, but it took three hours, even though I had planned to have it done by 7 am.

Loved your squirrel. I hope by now, the dinner went well, the conversation was pleasant, and you didn't spill spaghetti on your clothes. I have the same problem with religion and politics. I start squirming and try my best to change the subject. I suspect prayer was said before the meal. The one that gets me is where everyone holds hands and pray for the food. I hope yours went better than that. Have a super Saturday, Deb.

We had a wonderful hailstorm yesterday. No big BAMs; just hail and rain, glorious rain. We happened to be at a restaurant. We were willing wait for the rain to stop, but a waiter pulled a huge umbrella out of a table on the patio and walked us to our car! I felt like a maharani - lol

"The deer don't like to drink the water in the birdbath" hmm, you might want to get the rain water tested.
