Hope floats.....

Hubby has been kind of lost ever since his fishing buddy moved away... and took his boat with him... Before this hubby had never fished from a boat very much and was more than happy fishing from the shore... Fishing from a boat opened a whole new fishing world for him...

So since then hubby has been on a quest to 'get back on the water'... So the first step was the kayak... hoping that would satisfy his need to be out there fishing... but it was not to be.. He's not physically capable of getting his kayak far enough to the 'fishing holes' he used to visit with his fishing buddy.. He needed a motor..

So he bought a Jonboat and has continued to add things to it.. I couldn't possible tell you all the things he added... He covered the floor with wood covered the wood with outdoor carpet.. added the seats.... trolling motor and outboard motor practically fell in his lap.. He added all the lights and a submersible pump the list goes on.. This is one decked out boat.. Then he needed a trailer for it.. where he replaced all the boards and covered them in outdoor carpet..  And i was secretly concerned.. He had added alot of weight... How much was too much??  Would it float... and i'm thinking all the effort he put into this boat and saying to myself  ' Please God... let it float'  ... and....

She floats!!!!

She even floats with him in it....!! Woot woot...

Now does she sit a little low in the water?? Hmmmm... In my opinion .. yess.... But i don't know if i will ever be comfortable with him in that little wobbly boat out on the lake..

He has since moved the 50 pound battery from the back to the front... That should help... and he has adjusted the angle of the motor so maybe the front won't come up as high...  But one thing i do know.. being out there makes his heart sing ... so i'm just going to have to sit and hold hands with my worry...    Hugs! deb

What a lovely story Debs.

Sounds like he has modified wisely for weight distribution. Yes, I guess we must sit on our hands and put fear aside when someone's heart is singing. He looks very happy! :)

Men and their boats. I can totally relate to this boat story. But the good news is the boat floats and gets your husband back to the fishing spot. Hurrah!!!!!!! Happy weekend.

My mother used to tell me that the only difference between boys and men were the price of their toys!
He looks happy as a lark and that's good after what he has been through.

Nah, don't worry. He'll be fine. We had a Jonboat in Indiana that Terry's grandfather had. When he died we had it for a while and Terry's brother used it too. WE left it there when we moved. This mountain has a spring fed pond so of course we went out and got a Jonboat and started stocking the pond. It's not like going on the lakes in Michigan/Indiana but it's fun.

Ow wow! I'm so happy for him. It looks terrific. He's so handy. When I think of all the DIY you've done on the house, I know he's doing a great job. Just a few little tweaks needed here and there.

Great pictures. Thanks for sharing, Deb. Now, just breathe.

Big hugs, Eileen
